The day began for me at 9:00 am when the alarm rang and I looked out the window to realize that at last the rain has stopped! Stayed in bed for a while and scrolled through Facebook, emails, NYTimes App and took some time to stretch my legs.
Got out of bed and of course the first thing I thought about was food and poured myself my daily glass of Kefir, a fermented milk drink similar to a thin yogurt. Kefir contains lots of nutrients and probiotics. I drink it mainly for the probiotics.
Then I moved on to my coffee, most important part of my morning. One tiny cup is not always enough, but it is strong! I had two….
Moving on, I made myself a green juice with parsley, cucumber, celery, orange, ginger, and pineapple. I saw Marth Stewart the other day on TV talking about her daily juicing regime (wow does she look good!). This is what she says she drinks. I think I put too much ginger in it, but I made enough for two days and its always calmer the next day.
Next it was pancake time! I made my low carb pancakes (recipe below) and fried up some pork belly. I love meat and needed some protein.
It was time for a brief break to watch CNN for a few minutes until stories of the former president made my lovely breakfast churn in my stomach and I turned on The View. Comedian Alex Edelman was on. I never heard of him before and I love comedy. Made it a point to put his HBO Special in my calendar: April 6 on MAX: Just for Us. Next a shower and a brief stop downstairs of my house (it is a commercial/residential property with a store on the first floor) to the art gallery we own to check in with Sierra, the assistant before I began walking to physical therapy. I love my Physical therapist. Shout out to RYAN. I had a total knee replacement in December. Happy I can walk! Walking in the city is great, you see so much more than you would in a car, like the drawing below. Enjoyed walking down South Street to 10th and Locust. Have lived in Queen Village near South Street for 44 years. So many changes! After PT walked to Rite Aid to get a package at the Amazon Locker, then made my way home to take a little nap before going out tonight. Popped a gummy about 1:00 to chill out for the rest of the day.
At 5:30 I met my friend at ISOT Turkish Restaurant for dinner before we went to the Met.
This is me being happy food is on its way (eyes closed for the photo by mistake but only photo of the day of me!). Dinner was great, I was starving by 5:30…and the gummy kicked in and created quite an appitite. We took an Uber to arrive at 8:00 at the Met to see a talk by Ester Perel, the Belgian-American psychotherapist known for her work on human relationships. One can learn a lot from Esther Perel such as life is unpredictable and suggestions on how to reignite passion in long term relationships, but I learned one other thing last night….don’t bring a big purse to the Met. They made me go through security 2x but eventually decided I wasn’t carrying a weapon.
The day ended with: a $38.00 Uber ride back to Queen Village via Pennsport(where my friend lives), the taking out of the garbage, and a short bit of Jimmy Kimmel Live before I fell asleep after a full day.
