A Day in Philadelphia - Xmas Edition!!!
This morning I woke up around 8:00 am with period cramps. I laid back down for about 15 minutes (apparently 30 minutes), then my fiancee got me out of bed with promises of breakfast. He makes us crepes with jam, butter, and bananas and we drink our coffee at the table. We opened our gifts together - I got him a headlamp and a set of tea cups– all of which he loved. He got me two whistles that make bird calls and a perfect leather bag. I loved my gifts, too.
After we shared our gifts - I called my parents and my grandparents. It’s nice to hear everyone’s voices. I pace around our room while I talk on the phone and I move my laundry into the dryer. When I finish up my calls and chores - Ben and I get ready to walk to the Ritz to see the new Nosferatu movie. We arrived almost half an hour early because I was convinced everyone would be at the movies today. That wasn’t true, but we still got to sit where I liked and eat popcorn before the movie started. The movie was freaky and scary – blood, despair, jumpscare, etc. The locations were beautiful though. I guess the forest landscapes were shot in the Czech Republic, full of white, craggy rock and birch trees which I liked. The movie was good, but not my favorite that I saw this year. The Substance and Conclave are up there and I would watch both again.
Ben and I walk around Washington Square Park after the movie. It’s about 2:30 pm when we get out and we wander around until around 3:15 pm. We found some keys hanging up between Spruce and Pine on 11th Street – hopefully, whoever they belong to finds them. We admire the architecture along Spruce St. We are some of the only people outside today. It’s fun being in the city when no one else is here. When we get home we take our shoes off and sit down on the floor to play with our cat Lorna. She loves it when we’re both home to play with her.
We eat cookies, drink tea, and listen to a podcast. I get sleepier and crampier as the night goes on, but Ben makes us burritos for Christmas dinner. We’re not very traditional, but it’s just the two of us so we make something fun. We watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and go to bed around 9 pm. It's an early night for us, but we both have to be at work tomorrow anyway.
