Kelly

Frosty the oogle was a crusty happy soul,
With a real tree jacket and gallon jug
And a face tat and banjo

Frosty the oogle is a fairy tale, they say,
he hopped a fence and fucked around, that’s how he came to town one day.

CHOO CHOO

There must have been some magic in that
Ol dunkin dumpster

he cracked a beer and the piggies sneered
He began to dance around.

O, Frosty the oogle

Was alive as he could be,
And the children say he could laugh
And play just the same as you and me.
Chuggity jug jug

Chuggity jug jug
Look at Frosty go.

Chuggity jug jug

Chuggity jug jug
Over the hills of trash

Starting at the end of the day because that is where my memory starts. I guess technically 1:12am is the next day, which is technically Christmas…but we worked on this song for so long and so hard starting at 11pm on Christmas Eve that I really hope that is overlooked. This is my first December living in Philly.

Ada and Nestor went to school for music, and wherever they go they can play the piano with whatever sheet music is there. Sometimes I wake up and Ada is downstairs playing Skrillex on the piano. They figured out how to play Frosty the Snowman while Hazy and I were in the kitchen writing lyrics. I had been dreaming of a crust punk Frosty the Snowman all month, and we finally got to articulate and praise him in song. It took two hours to write, my phone died twice, and my stomach hurt from having too much sugar.

My fingers were sticky and cold from dumpster donuts <3 a classic Christmas treat.

Connie got the house a Christmas tree last week and it has been sitting in a milk crate with no ornaments, but we finally got around to decorating it. Blue string lights, a bunny hat, a JBL clip speaker playing Lil Peep, a DVD, a water bottle, and a long snaky soft sculpture. It fell over twice while we played Bananagrams. We made a lot of exceptions in our lawless game of Bananagrams where proper nouns, misspelled words, and acronyms all counted.

I spent most of the day working at the Christmas Village. I have been sitting in this cold ass booth selling jewelry all month. The booth next to me sells lenticular prints where if you stand over here its an image of Taylor Swift and if you stand over….here it is a picture of sonic. Or if you stand over here it is a picture of Earth from space. Goku turns into Obama turns into Spongebob turns into Chappell Roan turns into…

There are two to three public proposals every day in front of the Christmas tree. Violin covers of the same three Christmas songs play all day long. This little uninsulated booth kind of feels like glamping!

I can tell a lot of necklaces if I really want to. Someone called me “difficult” at work today lol...

I worked on tattoo flash all day and have been placing them on nude paintings because Meta doesn’t flag nudity in artworks. My friend Olivia and I have made it a goal to get off of Spotify for 2025 so I have been trying to automate downloading all of my playlists on Soulseek. I talk to my friends on the phone all day long and try to avoid getting confronted by the Grinch on my way to the bathroom. I have been using the fancy bathroom in the Notary hotel <3 I walk by the chess board and think about coming with Ada some time soon to play chess all day until we get asked to leave.

I reread a little bit of Ursula Leguin’s “Telling is Listening” to work on this essay I have been working on from my notes app from time to time. It is about the feeling of accessing speech over time, voices that are uploaded onto the web.

I wrote a grocery list (I didn’t end up getting any of these things today.) Candy canes, chocolate, coconut water, carrots.

I was early to work today.

There was snow on the ground when I left the house.

I woke up thinking about last summer.
