It’s a snow day in Philly! 4-6inches of snow is expected during the day. I love the snow and it’s about time Philly had some. It has been 700+ days since we last had a snow fall. This week reset the clock and we were well overdue.

I started my day by walking my dog to Dickinson square park and meeting up with our usual “park pals.” We see the same group of dog owners almost every day for the past 2+ years. The dogs get to play with their friends and we can chat with ours. The dogs all love the snow. Seeing them play together every morning really starts your day off right.

The snow day doesn’t last long because I work virtually from home and have an 8:30am meeting scheduled. I’ll save you the mundane details of my day but luckily my Friday work days usually go by quick. I wrapped up around 3:30pm, played with the dog outside and shoveled our sidewalk. As someone who frequently walks around the neighborhood, I know I want my sidewalk to be perfectly cleared and salted. I really appreciate the other homeowners that also care!

I live off of 2 street in Pennsport. We have our fair share of neighborhood bars participating in the Friday “snow load”.  One of my favorite musicians in the area, Richie Baker, is playing at Mifflin Tavern tonight. Mifflin has great food and drinks so I stopped in with my sister and a few others. The bar was crowded. Vibes were good. It was nice to be able to unwind after a long (but short) week.

I am happy for the start of the weekend. My husband and I are leaving Philly this weekend for a short train ride up to New York City for a change of scenery.

Maria grew up in NE Philly and now lives in South Philly. She works in Human Resources. She spends most of her days with her dog and her husband on the east side of Moyamensing. She rarely leaves her neighborhood but why would she… Everything she needs and likes is right here!
