Anna Ladd
5:30am: Wake up time! For better or for worse, I am a deeply irreparable morning person. Every day, I spend the first half hour trying to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee while my cat Sylvia screams at me for breakfast (which does not happen until 6).
6:05am: Walked to the gym, consulted my little workout spreadsheet on the way there, sighed deeply. I finished listening to the Charli XCX interview on Las Culturistas, and then went back to listening to BRAT.
6:30am: Gym time! I go to Strength Haus in South Philly. Today was the second day of Squat Summer, and I am in Pain, because I am 6' tall and I have so far to go down and so far to come back up. Every steep skinny rowhome staircase is my enemy. This is of my own doing but that will not stop me from complaining about it.
10:00am: I work full time from home as a podcast producer. We just finished making our current season last week, and are recording the new one next week, so I'm in podcast limbo for now. I worked on some thumbnails for our YouTube episodes, but mostly moderated the window interactions between Sylvia and her alley cat friend that likes to come visit on the deck. He has a crush on her and she hisses at him <3
1:30pm: After lunch, I went to Rival Bros to finish up work and also to bully myself into doing some writing for a personal project I’m working on. It’s a YouTube video that I could generously call a “documentary” about getting a PhD from a diploma mill, and I’ve been procrastinating writing my “dissertation.” But I am much more likely to do it when I’m not in the house, so this was a success. I’m also a UArts alum so this was possibly the funniest possible thing to be working on during its implosion
4:30pm: Late afternoon manicure and cat snuggles
6:00pm: My boyfriend Adam planted new flowers in our customary Passive Aggressive South Philly Sidewalk Pot, which stops the block’s Sidewalk Parker from doing so on our stoop. People have been using it as a trash can in its flowerless state so we had to remove 1 (one) cigarette.
7:00pm: Water ice from the John’s truck in Dickinson Square with my friend Ann! It is totally not at all on purpose the reason my after-dinner walk goes past this park every day. Nothing to see here
8:15pm: Sunset views on the walk home. I am perhaps the only person alive who has attempted to romanticize 5th & Porter
9:30pm: A little sink time for Sylvia before bed, which is early because I am, once again, a deeply irreparable morning person
Anna has moved to Philadephia three separate times and has three Philadelphia themed tattoos. She will walk to anything south of Market Street, and bully you into doing it with her. You can find her, primarily, at Manatawny Still Works.
