4 am - My 4-week-old baby starts crying to be fed so I roll over and pick him up from the bassinet to start nursing him. Technically our "day" began at 1 am and we were up again at 2:15 but I'll spare everyone the spirit-crushing monotony of these sleep-deprived nights of infant-hood. I'm currently on maternity leave with my second child and while I wouldn't say I'm "doing well", we are starting to get the hang of things.
5 am - The toddler wakes up, I think because of the sounds of construction crews outside.
Upon further investigation, it looks like they are starting to set up for the Juneteenth celebrations happening later today. The city put up no parking signs on our block yesterday so I hope that means the abandoned car across from our house will get towed at some point.
6 am - I let my husband sleep in while I play with the toddler and get breakfast started. Happy Father's Day!
11 am - We finally leave the house and walk to the park as a family. A food truck I've been meaning to check out is parked near the playground so I buy a vegan hot dog, a pretzel, and fries. I'm pleasantly surprised to see they are crinkle fries, a bonus! I highly recommend.
I love big trees :)
12 pm - It's every parent's favorite time of day: 🚨NAP TIME🚨.
2 pm - Time to check out the Juneteenth Parade! We walked over to Malcolm X Park just in time to see Mayor Parker arrive in a black Mustang and give some remarks. She was well received considering our neighborhood very much did not vote for her. We loved the drum lines and step teams!!
The toddler got a smoothie from @juicedbyb and it was a big hit!
This setup is my dream tbh.
4 pm - We come home and hang out on the front porch talking to the neighbors and people watching while the toddler uses the bubble machine. I love porch season!!!
6 pm - Attempt to feed a toddler dinner and put them to bed while also taking care of an infant without questioning all my decisions that led me to this point in life.
8 pm - Look for a new show to watch.
9 pm - Give up looking for a new show to watch and "go to bed" (woke up again about 45 min later to feed the baby).
A working mom currently on maternity leave with baby #2. You can find me looking for spots in the shade at the playground this summer!
