Hannah L.

I wake up to trash trucks driving by. In my sleepiness, I can hardly decipher the banter from the street below, but it's enough noise to get me out of bed. I feel groggy. I read the news and sigh. My roommate is out of town which means I get to be obnoxious and turn the volume up high on my record player while dancing around because no one is looking.

I'm always losing track of time and nearly miss the bus, but I run and make it just in time. Working at a cafe means I have my first coffee of the day once I get to work. It's slow for a Friday, so I waste time doing the crossword from the paper that one of my regulars always gives me. I read a bit of Just Kids by Patti Smith on the way home. It is my favorite book. I read it at the beginning of every year.

I lock up and walk through the hustle of a Friday on South Street to catch my bus ride home. My friend Church, who is my neighbor's cat, is often sitting on my stoop when I get home, ready to meow at me until I come back outside with some treats. Thankfully today is no different, and he is there to greet me when I approach the door.

I started taking a printmaking class recently so I have been sketching here and there.  I'm currently working on a print of a vase. I love carving the blocks, but now I'm always covered in rubber shavings. I put on my newest album purchase (Bikini Kill's EP, I have researching the riot grrrl movement for a couple of weeks, don't ask), and settle into the night.

Hannah is a multimedia artist. In her free time she likes to take walks with her camera, and can make a really good coffee. You can find her/her work on instagram @hanlevx.
