Monday morning, everyone’s favorite part of the week, especially Garfield. To pay homage to my favorite 4 legged cartoon buddy, who I so happen to have tattooed forever on my arm, I put on my bright orange Garfield shirt I laid out the night before. I rolled out of bed at 12:30, only an hour and a half after I set my alarm and wanted to wake up to kick off the week right. Getting out of bed in the morning has been a struggle I have been experiencing for the past year or so but have been getting better at.
I get to start my week off with my favorite class this semester, Media Performance. Media Performance is a class I’m currently taking for my major, Media Studies and Production. I took this class because I’ve never had the opportunity to learn about being in front of camera or much about media performance in general. This is only the third week of classes for the spring semester so we are still getting down the basics and learning about each other. Last class we went into the news studio for the first time and today we are getting to use it. Our teacher had us each get behind the news desk and read a script while the rest of the class was assigned positions and jobs around the studio. I got to do tapes and audio which at first was very intimidating but as I got more comfortable I began to enjoy it more and more. When it came time for me to read the script I went up and did what I thought was a fairly good job which was backed up by the claps I got after I went.
After Media Performance was over I went to the student center to shoot pool with my friend Emilio. Pool has been an activity I started to get into heavily when I was home for winter break because of the pool table I have at my Moms and since then I’ve been hooked. At Temple they have 10 tables that are only $2.50 an hour for students and can be paid with Diamond Dollars (Temple Currency). Me and Emilio played for an hour or to which was nice because recently I have been going on my own and just proacting by myself so playing with someone else was nice.
Me and Emilio grabbed Wingstop in the student center after playing pool and went back to his apartment. On Mondays, I have an online class called Human Behavior and the Photographic Image which takes place on zoom from 5:30-8. I took this class because I needed to fulfil an elective credit and I also enjoy photography. So far this class has been pretty interesting but I have trouble taking online classes like this because of my ADHD. I through on the call while I ate dinner and hung out with my friends, ultimate multitasking.
With it being a new year and my recent journey in stopping drinking, I have been trying to do more with my free time and get involved in more productive positive things. Emilio and some of my other friends go to Temples yoga class they have Mondays and Thursdays. I decided to join them tonight but unfortunately we got there too late so we weren’t allowed in. This is when I made a decision I never thought I would make, going to the gym. When I was younger I had to go to the gym for lacrosse but I haven’t stepped foot in one since. I worked out for about an hour with my friend Liam and it felt amazing. I’m hoping this becomes a new habit and something I continue with.
After the gym I went back to my friends and played with their cats for a little bit. For a random Monday in January this was quite the day. Today may have been one of the most productive days I’ve had this year yet. I’m hoping to continue down this path and have an amazing rest of the year.
