I woke up this morning still reeling from last night’s season finale of the Bachelorette featuring Jenn Tran (what in the hell was that!!!) I dragged myself out of bed and got ready to head to work at the Philly Police SVU building.
Yes, like the tv show. (Not nearly as dramatic or exciting... although I’m not a detective, so maybe it IS that dramatic and exciting!)
I am a sexual assault crisis advocate and provide support for survivors who come seeking forensic exams. Today I took some hotline calls, had a couple of meetings and talked with the head nurse about work and life.
I left work at 4 needing to feel some fresh air and sunshine (my office doesn’t have windows) and headed home. Before going to my apartment, I stopped into a cafe for a quick pick-me-up and walked away with 2 keychains that say “Jawn”, how Philly. One for me and one for my brother. We’re twins! Did I mention, the keychains were ~free~!
Back to my apartment to decompress for a little bit. I’m thinking about what to make myself for dinner, and considering something from the Trader Joe’s haul I did yesterday.
I decided to keep reading the book “Just for the Summer” by Abby Jimenez. I’m about 70% through it and enjoying it a lot. It’s a nice, fast summer read. I’m in a book club and this month’s book is “People of the Book” by Geraldine Brooks. I really like my book club! I often find myself reading a bunch of books at the same time- Libby is one of my favorite apps.
Made myself a mish-mash of things from the iconic, you guessed it, Trader Joe’s freezer section. How is it all that good? I recently started watching “Palm Royale” and it’s funny! It has an awesome cast. I watched episode 4 while I ate my dinner.
Not half an hour later I got a text from my mom asking if I’d eaten. I told her I had, but could meet her and my dad anywhere to hang out! We met at a restaurant a block from my place and they treated me to an iced tea, my fave 😊 it was nice to get quality time with them. It’s fun to be able to meet up with them spontaneously.
The rest of the night was relaxed. I texted with some friends, did some things around the apartment and continued to read my book. It’s fun to document a day in your own life-it definitely made me pay more attention to all of the little things that took place. Which reminds me- I got a text today from my mom with a picture of the newest member of our family, a little baby girl! I have a new cousin🥰
Always look for the little things in your day that bring you joy! Thanks for reading :)
