Today was unremarkable. A sunny Sunday; a slight breeze; unfinished to-do lists tucked out of sight; endless possibilities; a bare fridge, waiting for its weekly restock; the promise of a good day. It was a day like any other.
Even though Philly has been home for some time, little things, new and familiar, never fail to put a smile on my face.
My elderly neighbor chased me down to lovingly scold me about parking on the street on Thursdays, his attempt to shield me from PPA's wrath.
I walked into Doggie Styles Fairmount and immediately, the adoptable dogs in the window wagged their tails, ready to go to their fur-ever homes.
The block was lined with merchants and artists from all over the city, showcasing their beautiful vintage clothing, hand painted suncatchers, colorful homewares, and cheeky postcards.
My partner and I took Aggie out for a stroll around the block, grabbed some produce from the grocery store, met up with friends and made some new ones at the Now and Then Marketplace, and took time to frolic in the sun, decompress, and connect with each other after a long week.
Philly continues to bring me joy in small and big ways and today was a reminder of the beauty in the unremarkable, the promise that lives in every day.
